Drawline Machine Operator

About the role

As a drawline operator in our Coil Spring Wire business unit, you will prepare large strands of coil for processing, load them into the machine, ensure smooth operation, and unload the processed coil for the next production step. The role involves operating and programming machines using computers, making mechanically inclined decisions, and working in a physically demanding environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving product
• Operate cranes and forklifts safely and efficiently
• Work independently with minimal supervision
• Utilize technology to run and program machines
• Make mechanically inclined decisions during production
• Work off-shift schedules as required
• Remain on your feet for extended periods
• Complete necessary paperwork accurately

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and understand job documentation
• Physical coordination to lift and move product
• Trainable in forklift operation
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong written and oral communication skills with attention to detail
• Proficiency in math, including English and metric unit conversions
• Ability to read, use, and understand measuring devices
• Understanding of machine computer functions
• Trainable in CNC, PLC controls, and SPC documentation
• Ability to load material, perform changeovers, and make adjustments during production or tooling changes
