Drafter Civil/Structural

About the role

Zachry Engineering Corporation (ZEC) is seeking a talented and self-motivated Civil/Structural Drafter to join our Engineering office in Omaha, Nebraska. The ideal candidate will apply manual and computerized drafting methods to produce complex engineering drawings using Autodesk structural software.

Responsibilities

• Produce technical, detailed, and accurate drawings, plans, and models using CAD software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Revit.
• Collaborate with engineers to translate designs into technical drawings.
• Meet with civil engineers to fully understand project expectations and design requirements.
• Ensure drawings adhere to project specifications, building codes, and industry standards.
• Collaborate with other disciplines (e.g., engineers, project managers, construction managers) to ensure seamless integration of designs.
• Prepare detail drawings, sections, and standard details for construction.
• Support project planning, reporting, and documentation.
• Perform walk-downs of equipment in an industrial plant environment, including climbing ladders, working at heights, and carrying equipment up to 50 pounds.

Requirements

• High School diploma with coursework in drafting techniques and/or a Drafting Certificate is required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in designing complex concrete and steel structures from sketches or specifications using appropriate terms, procedures, and drafting standards.
• Experience producing complex drawings in both 2-D and 3-D environments is required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Revit.
• Experience with Laser Scanning tools, total stations, software, and registration is a plus.
