About the Role
Zachry Nuclear Engineering, Inc. (ZNE) is seeking a Drafter, Civil/Structural Mechanical for a direct hire, in-office position located in either our Stonington, CT or Charlotte, NC engineering office.
Individual will apply manual and computerized drafting methods with a working knowledge of the terms and procedures of the occupation to obtain the desired product. Assignments will be completed utilizing information provided by engineers or design staff under the direction of a supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Apply a working knowledge of mechanical and/or civil/structural design to prepare mechanical isometrics, plans, elevations, and sections, piping plans, details, and pipe hanger supports utilizing engineer sketches and vendor information.
- Prepare bills of material.
- Resolve client comments.
- Prepare as-built drawings.
- Produce complex drawings in 2-D and 3-D environments.
Requirements
- High School diploma with course work in drafting techniques and/or Drafting Certificate is required.
- Education or experience in engineering drafting and familiarity with basic drafting techniques.
- Able to accurately draw complex mechanical systems from sketches or specifications using appropriate terms, procedures, and drafting standards.
- Able to demonstrate the ability to utilize various drafting and CADD techniques for project requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Effective time management skills, as the position may involve working on several projects concurrently.
- Ability to pass security and drug screening and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access.
- Understand and comply with company policies, procedures, and processes.
- Willingness to work overtime as required.
- Travel to client sites with occasional periods of field/office work.
- Ability to perform walk downs of equipment in an industrial plant environment, including:
- Climbing ladders and working at heights.
- Carrying equipment up to 50 pounds.
- Accessing security-controlled areas.
- Entering confined spaces and controlled hazardous areas (e.g., high temperatures, high radiation).
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of MicroStation and AutoCAD.
- Experience with Laser Scanning tools, total stations, software, and registration.
