About the role
THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED POSITION AND IS SUBJECT TO RENEWAL
Responsibilities
- Perform routine (journey-level) administrative and supervisory program work.
- Assist in establishing program goals and objectives.
- Assist in developing program guidelines, procedures, policies, rules, and regulations.
- Assist in developing schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving program goals.
- Assist in evaluating program activities.
- Provide support and collaborate in the planning, development, implementation, analysis, and documentation of an agency program.
- Serve as a liaison to staff, government agencies, community organizations, or the general public to explain and provide technical assistance on program specifics and requirements.
- Conduct surveys and/or reviews to determine compliance with certification requirements, laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain security of state or court premises.
- May assist in developing policy and procedure manuals.
- May train others.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in law enforcement, security work, associated military service, or a minimum of one and a half (1.5) years experience as a DPS Security Specialist.
- Must obtain Texas Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) certification within ninety (90) days of employment.
- If driving is required, must possess a valid driver license from state of residence.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws related to the program area.
- Working knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly assimilate information related to TXDPS, State and Federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Supervisory/Managerial/Leadership Skills: Identifying measures or indicators of program and staff performance, operating a computer and applicable software, developing plans, policies, and procedures for efficient workflow and overall effectiveness, promoting teamwork, providing clear direction to subordinates, and motivating others to accomplish goals.
- Interpersonal Skills: Exercise poise, tact, diplomacy, establish and maintain positive, working / professional relationships with internal / external customers, demonstrate DPS core values, and be able to establish and maintain positive, working / professional relationships with internal / external customers.
- Organizational and Prioritization Skills: Be organized, flexible, and able to effectively prioritize in a multi-demand and constantly changing environment, meet multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines without sacrificing accuracy, timeliness or professionalism.
- Presentation/Communication Skills: Construct and deliver clear, concise, and professional presentations to a variety of audiences and/or individuals.
- Research and Comprehension: Quickly and efficiently access relevant information, utilize and/or present research and conclusions in a clear and concise manner, examine data / information, discern variations / similarities, identify trends, relationships and causal factors, grasp issues, draw accurate conclusions, and solve problems.
- Technology (computers / hardware / software / operating systems): Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), appropriate levels of proficiency with utilized software and systems, and be able to learn new software/systems.
- Confidentiality and Protected Information: Handle sensitive and confidential information responsibly, adhere to applicable laws / statutes / policies related to access, maintenance and dissemination of information.
- Safety: Work in a safe manner at all times, avoid shortcuts that have potential adverse results/risks, comply with safety standards and best practices.

Pay
Salary is contingent upon qualifications and is subject to salary administration and budgetary restrictions.
Schedule
Availability for after-hour, holidays, overnight, emergencies and weekend work is required.
