About the role
You will manage the administration, monitoring, and auditing of Electronic Logging Device (ELD) and Hours of Service (HOS) compliance programs to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Review daily ELD logs, investigate violations related to driving time, rest breaks, sleeper berth usage, and unassigned driving events, and ensure adherence to HOS regulations.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for PeopleNet/Trimble systems, configuring driver profiles, troubleshooting system issues, and providing technical support as needed.
- Conduct detailed violation reviews, escalate significant concerns, recommend corrective actions, and administer driver coaching, retraining, and corrective action processes for repeat or high-risk violations.
- Oversee roadside inspection report reviews, track violations, coordinate with operations and safety teams to mitigate regulatory risks, and submit DataQs challenges for disputed inspection findings.
- Provide coaching, training, and corrective guidance to drivers on ELD usage, log editing, and compliance requirements while maintaining audit-ready documentation for FMCSA reviews, investigations, and audits.
- Develop and distribute compliance reports, analyze trends, conduct root cause analyses of recurring issues, and partner with cross-functional teams to implement preventive action plans and process improvements.
- Play a key role in protecting the organization's DOT operating authority and improving driver compliance performance through proactive compliance management and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA Hours of Service regulations, Electronic Logging Device (ELD) requirements, and DOT recordkeeping standards to support compliance initiatives.
- 3+ years of experience in DOT, transportation, fleet, safety, or compliance environments, including at least 2 years administering PeopleNet, Trimble, or similar ELD platforms.
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools, to evaluate compliance performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Experience managing driver compliance programs, conducting roadside inspection follow-up, administering corrective actions, and maintaining audit-ready compliance documentation.
- Interpret complex regulatory requirements, monitor CSA/SMS performance, and support DOT audits, investigations, and regulatory reviews.
- Communicate effectively with drivers and operational leadership, providing coaching, guidance, and support to promote compliance and safe operating practices.
- Collaborate across Operations, Fleet, Safety, HR, and Payroll teams while maintaining a strong attention to detail, commitment to regulatory excellence, and focus on continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., transportation, logistics, safety, or compliance).
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance procedures.
- Experience with ELD systems and software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay commensurate with experience. Open to salary range $90,000 - $132,000.
