About the role

The Domestic Agent III is a high-visibility role serving as the primary contact for designated customers. You will be responsible for the outcome of assigned projects, including customer service, tracking, routing, problem resolution, vendor compliance, and customer interaction.

Responsibilities

  • Quote, track, and trace domestic freight shipments moving via air/ground on a daily basis.
  • Track overhead shipments daily and route accordingly.
  • Route freight shipments across multiple transportation modes and services based on client requests.
  • Proactively communicate with clients regarding the status of freight.
  • Communicate with vendors/suppliers regarding shipment dispatch, routing, and rates.
  • Assist local sales and domestic offices with air/ground freight issues.
  • Manage daily on-time and defect codes, carrier re-weights, and ensure all masters are rated.
  • Compile customer-specific key performance indicator (KPI) reports on a weekly/monthly basis as needed.
  • Ensure paperwork, labeling, and scanning are accurate.
  • Understand the requirements and expectations of handling shipments of consequence (e.g., NFO, high-value, date/time-specific).
  • Process monthly inventory.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by business demands.
  • Network with corresponding departments to ensure files are billed and posted prior to the end of the month.
  • Engage in continuous learning through required compliance training and certifications of software and/or regulations.

Qualifications

Skills

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent preferred.
  • 7–10 years of freight forwarding experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in math and geography.
  • Ability to identify root causes of service failures, recommend solutions, and implement them.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Dangerous Goods Certification preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of regulations and compliance procedures in freight forwarding, including domestic ground carriers, commercial airlines, and cartage.
  • Advanced knowledge of IATA and TSA regulations.
  • SAP and AS400 experience preferred.
  • Ability to analyze numerical data, understand relationships, find patterns, and draw conclusions.
  • Substantial understanding of job tasks and company policies to complete a wide range of routine and complex tasks.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex procedures/regulations and write correspondence and procedural documents.
  • Effective communication and interaction with diverse groups; ability to present information in large group settings.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic operations using units of currency, weight, volume, and distance.
