About the role

The Department of Labor (DOL) Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) program requires contractor services to support transitioning Servicemembers through its highly successful Transition Assistance Program (TAP).

Responsibilities

  • Teach and/or instruct military personnel transitioning to civilian professional and vocational occupations.
  • Guide transitioning military service members in identifying goals and recognizing employment or education gaps.
  • Provide comprehensive understanding of preparing for civilian employment, job searching, job application processes, networking, technical training opportunities, credentialing.
  • Aid in preparing for civilian employment and participation in technical programs and schools.
  • Aid in mentoring facilitators in standardized curriculum and applying effective facilitation techniques.
  • Assist Lead Facilitator with administrative tasks.
  • Conduct small and large group instruction on the job search process.
  • Deliver standardized curriculum via in-person or virtual classrooms.
  • Interact and facilitate with Executive Level participants.
  • Meet country specific employment requirements as applicable.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree and 5 years of Transition Assistance Program (TAP) instructor or career counseling experience, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of Transition Assistance Program (TAP) training experience.
  • Experience as a Classroom Instructor.
  • Knowledgeable of the workplace, jobs, and requirements for entry into those jobs.
  • Ability to provide standardized training to groups with up to 50 participants.
  • Familiarity with MS Windows and Office.

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to interact with Military clients and speak in front of a group.
  • Observational skills and ability to professionally engage with a diverse audience.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Time management skills and ability to work independently.
