About the role
We are looking for a detail-oriented Document Specialist to support a legal affairs team in downtown Memphis, Tennessee. This long-term contract opportunity is ideal for someone confident working with digital records, managing document-related tasks, and handling sensitive information with care. The role offers flexibility in work arrangement with hybrid options available and is expected to support part-time to regular hours based on project needs.
Responsibilities
- Manage the retrieval, organization, and transfer of records from an existing repository into a current document management platform.
- Review files for completeness and accuracy before uploading or filing them in the appropriate electronic location.
- Perform document scanning, compilation, and indexing activities to maintain well-structured digital records.
- Navigate Microsoft SharePoint and related electronic systems to store, categorize, and update documentation efficiently.
- Handle confidential files and sensitive materials with professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion.
- Track progress on assigned document tasks and help maintain consistent workflow throughout the project.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure records are processed in alignment with departmental standards and timelines.
Requirements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Comfort working with electronic document systems and adapting quickly to technology-based processes.
- Experience with document scanning, compiling, and organizing digital files.
- Familiarity with SharePoint or similar document management platforms.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy across repetitive tasks.
- Ability to protect confidential information and manage sensitive records appropriately.
- Prior experience in a document control, administrative support, or records-focused role is preferred.
- Exposure to a legal environment is helpful but not required.
