About the role

The Health Information Management (HIM) Document Imaging Specialist ensures the accurate and timely collection of clinical documentation that is generated during patient care and treatment. Using artificial intelligence, the patient records are uploaded into our legal record of care repository. The record transfer process requires collaboration with our clinical staff, providers, and HIM staff.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and completes timely collection of patient documents by assigned areas of patient care concurrently and post discharge and adheres to infection control protocols in public and patient care areas.
• Collaborates with nursing personnel on chart maintenance with use of a decision-making matrix to identify forms to remain on the patient care unit.
• Documents will be prepped to ensure no staples or paper clips are attached, any loose documents that need to be secured and repair of any torn documents, scanned and indexed into the artificial intelligence (AI application) and then moved to the record of care repository.
• Analyzes and resolves indexing issues moved to an exception queue that will be addressed and re-entered into the AI application.
• Investigates and resolves medical record exceptions; ensures quality, completeness and accuracy of the electronic medical record and ensures timely medical record completion in support of compliant coding/billing practices.
