Raymond West is looking for a Dock and Door Technician to join our service team. We bring industry-leading expertise in lift trucks, racking, conveyor, dock and door, rentals, parts, and service, providing end-to-end warehouse solutions to keep our customers' businesses running.
About the role
The primary objectives of the Dock and Door Technician are:
- Proficient repair and service of customer equipment
- Maintain good communication and working relationships with customers, peers, and management
- Represent and sell the entire company
- Be profitable with direct labor billing
- Work within all safety guidelines established by Raymond West and OSHA
Responsibilities
- Repair all types of dock and door equipment that Raymond West sells and services
- Update training and skills on a continuing basis
- Train other employees as needed
- Maintain a profitable billing level
- Follow all Service Department procedures
- Communicate with assigned Service leadership
- Complete all paperwork transactions in a timely, neat, accurate, and orderly fashion
- Communicate all options to customers before proceeding with work
- Have the necessary tools to perform repair and scheduled service work
- Complete jobs within quoted time limits when applicable
- Maintain a clean and orderly (inside and outside) vehicle
- Maintain an accurate assigned parts inventory, if applicable
- Represent the entire company at all times
- Pass Raymond Certification and re-certification if applicable
- Maintain good working knowledge of customers and equipment in assigned areas
- Maintain an acceptable driving record as established by the company’s insurance carrier
- Report accidents whether self or customer
- Account for 100% of available time during working hours
- Be willing to work overtime when necessary and coordinate all overtime with assigned supervisor
- Follow all procedures in the company’s Employee Handbook
- Follow safety procedures and use good judgment in regard to safety
- Be willing to work out of town as necessary
- Establish a positive rapport with customers
- Perform other specific duties and projects as assigned by the Service Supervisors or Managers
Requirements
- High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years breakdown experience or comparable service experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid driver’s license with no more than the allowable level of points on record, if applicable
- Must be able to be insured by Raymond West
- Must possess a working knowledge of basic D.C. electricity, basic A.C. electricity, internal combustion, and diesel engines
- Working knowledge of hydraulic systems
- Mechanical abilities
- Raymond Level 1 Certified or working towards that goal, if applicable
- Maintain personally owned tools according to approved minimum tool list
- Must be willing to work off-hours as specific needs dictate
- Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner
- Must be self-motivated and able to manage time efficiently
- Must pass all available certificates appropriate to the position

- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

Physical Requirements
- Non-sedentary position
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
- Frequently required to go onto job sites where construction is underway
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and maneuver up to 125 lbs. with assistance
- Use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms
- Occasionally required to smell
- Position requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
- Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration
- Noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud
Pay
The hourly range for this position is $25.00 - $43.00. The specific pay offered may be influenced by factors including relevant experience, education, and work location.
