About the Role
The primary objectives of the Dock and Door Technician are:
- The proficient repair and service of the customer's equipment
- To maintain good communication and working relationships with customers, peers, and management
- To represent and sell the entire company
- To be profitable with direct labor billing
- Work within all safety guidelines established by Raymond West and OSHA
Responsibilities
- Repair all types of Dock and Door equipment that RW sells and services
- Repair all types of equipment that Raymond West sells and services
- Update training and skills on a continuing basis
- Train other employees as needed
- Maintain a profitable billing level
- Follow all Service Department procedures
- Communicate with assigned Service leadership
- Complete all paperwork transactions in a timely, neat, accurate and orderly fashion
- Communicate all options to customers before proceeding with work
- Have the necessary tools to perform repair and scheduled service work
- Complete jobs within quoted time limits when applicable
- Maintain a clean and orderly (inside and outside) vehicle
- Maintain an accurate assigned parts inventory, if applicable
- Represent the entire company at all times
- Pass Raymond Certification and re-certification if applicable
- Maintain good working knowledge of customers and equipment in assigned areas
- Maintain an acceptable driving record as established by the company's insurance carrier
- Report accidents whether self or customer
- Account for 100% of available time during working hours
- Must be willing to work overtime when necessary
- Must coordinate all overtime with assigned supervisor
- Must follow all procedures in the company's Employee Handbook
- Must follow safety procedures and use good judgment in regard to safety
- Must be willing to work out of town as necessary
- Establish a positive rapport with customers
- Perform other specific duties and projects as assigned by the Service Supervisors or Managers
Qualifications
- High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years breakdown experience or comparable service experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must possess a valid driver's license with no more than the allowable level of points on record
- Must be able to be insured by Raymond West
- Must pass all available certificates appropriate to the position
- Raymond Level 1 Certified or working towards that goal, if applicable
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen

- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

- Must be willing to work off-hours as specific needs dictate and willing to assume more responsibility as required

- Must have working knowledge of basic D.C. electricity, basic A.C. electricity, internal combustion, and diesel engines
- Must have working knowledge of hydraulic systems
- Must have mechanical abilities
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
- Must be able to take directions
- Must be a team player, i.e., to work with peers
- Must maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance
- Willing and able to learn quickly and perform accurately and neatly with a degree of flexibility
- Must be motivated to continuous self-development and training
- Willing to assume more responsibility as required
Physical Requirements
- Position is non-sedentary
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
- Position will be required to go onto job sites to perform duties where construction is underway
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and the ability to maneuver up to 125 lbs. with assistance of equipment or other team members
- The position will require employees to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms
- The employee is occasionally required to smell
- Position requires the employee to climb/balance/stoop/kneel/crouch and crawl
- The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and the risk of electrical shock
- The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration
- The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud
Pay
The hourly range for this position is $22.90 - $50.65. The specific pay offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.

Travel
This position will be based in the field and require daily travel within assigned territories. Technicians will be provided a company vehicle and a company Fuel Card to pay for vehicle expenses.
