DLO Hopsital Lab Manager
About the role
The DLO Hospital Laboratory Manager is responsible for representing the Joint Venture in all individual Hospital Laboratory site daily management. They ensure the JV meets quality control standards, implements SOPs, collects and analyzes data, and prepares reports. This role also involves leading the daily hospital laboratory activities, representing the lab in meetings, ensuring technical staff performs effectively, and managing the laboratory team.
Responsibilities
- Works as the site manager for the DLO Lab Management team, providing hospital lab services based on the lab management agreement.
- Identifies, designs, develops, and implements hospital laboratory management services for an individual hospital within the Joint Venture lab management group.
- Participates in implementation plans, start-up, and ongoing management for both internal (DLO) and external customer (hospital client) contracting requirements.
- Trains hospital management and staff, evaluates lab effectiveness, and ensures timely completion of the lab management arrangement and contract success.
- Acts as an operations liaison for hospital and Joint Venture leadership, coordinates service level expectations, and leads or participates in meetings.
- Develops project plans, including laboratory space requirements or expansion of testing services, and collaborates with supply chain/procurement to maintain inventory levels.
- Manages labor productivity and costs per test, initiates invoicing, and manages capital equipment requests.
- Coordinates with DLO Laboratory operations and partners to ensure quality and timely delivery of laboratory testing services.
- Provides regular status updates to DLO team members and hospital leadership, highlighting issues, service scopes, and productivity, quality, equipment, and process flow reports.
- Ensures timely sample preparation for reference testing and collaborates with reference laboratories to resolve issues.
- Learns and leads in Lean Six Sigma principles, change management, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Qualifications
- Required Work Experience: 5 or more years’ managerial experience in the laboratory industry. Prior managerial hospital experience preferred.
- Required Educational Background: CLIA-certified Medical Laboratory Technician or Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Biology, or related sciences, qualifying as a general laboratory supervisor under CLIA.
- Preferred Educational Background: Master's in Business or Healthcare Administration.
- Required Certification: Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification by a nationally accredited certifying body. MLS certification preferred.
- Strong project management, organizational, and analytical skills; ability to manage multiple engagements concurrently; strong interpersonal and presentation skills; ability to work in a dynamic team environment; considerable knowledge of general laboratory services and testing requirements; demonstrated management and leadership skills; strong client interaction skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency with key PC software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); advanced understanding of data analytics.
