Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Cook up and schedule lab assignments for lab technicians and supervisors
- Oversee all analytical testing work
- Receive, compile, and verify data from lab testing
- Document and maintain accurate records for all customer samples
- Analyze and compile quality control sample results to ensure operational efficiency
- Train laboratory analysts
- Act as a liaison between laboratory technicians and Branch Manager, as well as between technicians and Operations
- Prepare corrective and preventative action reports for all matters related to QA/QC and keep records for review
- Follow up on non-conformances, conduct investigative preventative actions, and implement appropriate corrective actions
- Achieve revenue and budget performance goals and manage personnel staffing levels
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of management experience in Petroleum Industry or an Associate’s Degree and 5+ years of experience in the Petroleum Industry
- Strong managerial experience and interpersonal skills
- Technical and theoretical knowledge of laboratory operations
- Ability to communicate with employees, outside consultants, executive management, and colleagues
- Thorough understanding of safety and training issues
Safety Sensitive Position
- Requires pre-employment, random, and annual drug and alcohol testing (including marijuana testing)
Working Conditions
- Work primarily in a laboratory with some time in an office
- Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals
- Employees must read product information, use available engineering controls, follow training guidelines, and be able to wear and use appropriate protective equipment, including respiratory protective equipment, as required by the work environment
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Pass a drug and alcohol test specified by AmSpec
- Pass an annual Pulmonary Fitness and Respirator Fit Test
- Pass a physical examination by a physician designated by AmSpec Services, both before employment and at any time during employment upon request of AmSpec Services to confirm the employee’s ability to perform the essential job functions of the position
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/carry boxes weighing up to 45lbs
- Ability to work in the presence of odors, typical of petroleum or petrochemicals, without allergic reactions or nausea when such odors are within OSHA-designated permissible exposure limits (PELs)
