About Us

Augusta University is Georgia's innovation center for education and health care, training the next generation of innovators, leaders, and healthcare providers. Established in 2017, the Department of Juvenile Justice Health Services was created through a unique collaboration between Augusta University Health System and the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice with the goal of delivering high-quality health services to the state of Georgia’s justice-involved youth in 25 facilities.

Location: Clayton RYDC Martha K Glaze (Located in Clayton County), 1180 Hastings Bridge Road, Hampton, GA 30228.

Educational Requirements

High school diploma with two years of experience and one of the following certifications:

  • AAMA - American Association of Medical Assistant
  • CCMA - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
  • MedCa - Medical Career Assessment
  • NCMA - National Certified Medical Assistant
  • RMA - Registered Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

As part of the facility clinical team, this position is educated and trained to perform both administrative and clinical skills in the medical care environment. Duties include:

  • Providing support to the physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or other providers as needed.
  • Evaluating and preparing patients to be seen by providers, including patient triage, taking vital signs, recording patient interview/complaints, and preparing patients for exams/procedures.
  • Processing lab requests, including venipuncture.
  • Performing routine screening tests, EKGs, nebulizer treatments, and changing dressings as ordered.
  • Preparing and administering medications as prescribed, noting times and amounts on patient records.
  • Entering clinical data into the electronic medical record and maintaining accurate and complete documentation in the patient record.
  • Assisting with administrative clerical duties, answering phones, and scheduling appointments as needed.

Qualifications

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 or more years of previous experience in a clinical setting and correctional clinical experience.
  • Experience with electronic medical records.
  • Bilingual (a plus).

Pay

Base rate of $20.00 per hour.

Schedule

Full time - 40 hours per week. Shifts may vary and depend upon the availability of each site.
