Department Information
- Education Requirements: High school diploma with two years of experience and one of the following:
- AAMA - American Association of Medical Assistant
- CCMA - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
- MedCa - Medical Career Assessment
- NCMA - National Certified Medical Assistant
- RMA - Registered Medical Assistant
ABILITIES
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Detail-oriented
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- 3 or more years previous experience in a clinical setting and correctional clinical experience.
- Experience with electronic medical record is preferred.
- Bi-lingual a plus.
Responsibilities
- Educated and trained to perform both administrative and clinical skills in the medical care environment.
- Supports the physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant or other providers as needed.
- Evaluates and prepares patients to be seen by providers.
- Patient triage to include taking vital signs, recording of patient interview/complaints and prepares the patient for exams/ procedures as needed.
- Processes lab requests to include venipuncture. Performs routine screening tests, EKG's, nebulizer treatments and changing dressings as ordered.
- Preparation and administration of medications as prescribed. Notes times and amounts on patient records.
- Enters clinical data into the electronic medical record and maintains accurate and complete documentation in the patient record.
- Assists with administrative clerical duties, answering phones and scheduling appointments as needed.
