DJJ Staff Nurse - Savannah, GA 40 hrs/week

Augusta University is Georgia's innovation center for education and health care, training the next generation of innovators, leaders, and healthcare providers. Established in 2017, the Department of Juvenile Justice Health Services was created through a collaboration between Augusta University Health System and the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice to deliver high-quality health services to justice-involved youth in 25 facilities.

About the role

This position is based at Savannah RYDC (Chatham County), located at 191 Carl Griffin Drive, Savannah, GA 31405-1362. Our mission is to transform young lives by providing evidence-based rehabilitative treatment services and supervision, strengthening the well-being of youth and families, and fostering safe communities. Each youth will receive appropriate, individualized care to improve their health knowledge and potential for wellness.

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation under the general direction of the Lead Nurse.
• Guide patient teaching, nursing activities, and ancillary personnel.
• Promote a customer-friendly environment and provide superior service to youth, facility staff, family, and outside vendors.
• Function within the Georgia Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act.
• Respond quickly in emergency situations (within 4 minutes).

Requirements

• Licensed as an RN in the State of Georgia.
• 1 year of previous experience in a clinical setting.
• Current Health Care Provider BCLS Certification (American Heart or Red Cross Program).
• Good organizational and decision-making skills; ability to work under pressure.
• Must relate well to patients, security staff, visitors, and co-workers.
• Must pass a Criminal History Record Release, Physical Examination, and Drug Screen (when applicable).
• Security Clearance by the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.

Qualifications

• Able to lift 50 lbs.
• Capable of normal bending, reaching, stooping, standing, and sitting for long periods.
• Must be able to move quickly in emergencies.
• Normal levels of hearing and seeing (with corrective appliances if necessary).
• Good physical and mental health.

Pay

Base rate of $39.50 per hour.

Schedule

• Full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Shifts may vary depending on site availability.
