Augusta University is Georgia's innovation center for education and health care, training the next generation of innovators, leaders, and healthcare providers. Established in 2017, the Department of Juvenile Justice Health Services was created through a collaboration between Augusta University Health System and the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice to deliver high-quality health services to justice-involved youth in 25 facilities.

About the role

This position is based at Wilkes RYDC (Wilkes County), responsible for delivering patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The role involves guiding patient teaching, nursing activities, and ancillary personnel while promoting a customer-friendly environment and providing superior service to youth, facility staff, families, and outside vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation under the direction of the Lead Nurse.
  • Guide patient teaching, nursing activities, and ancillary personnel.
  • Promote a customer-friendly environment and provide superior service to youth, facility staff, families, and vendors.
  • Function within the Georgia Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act.
  • Respond quickly in emergencies (within 4 minutes).
  • Perform BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality, availability, and integrity of sensitive information.

Requirements

  • Licensed as an RN in the State of Georgia.
  • 1 year of previous experience in a clinical setting.
  • Current Health Care Provider BCLS Certification (American Heart or Red Cross Program).
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, bend, reach, stoop, and stand/sit for long periods.
  • Normal levels of hearing and vision (with corrective appliances if necessary).
  • Must pass a Criminal History Record Release, Physical Examination, and Drug Screen (when applicable).
  • Security clearance by the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.

Skills

  • Good organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Able to work under pressure and relate well to patients, security staff, visitors, and co-workers.
  • Good physical and mental health.

Pay

Base rate of $39.50 per hour.

Schedule

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • Shifts may vary depending on site availability.
