About the role
Thomas Jefferson University seeks a visionary and collaborative academic physician leader to serve as the next Division Director of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery within the Department of Surgery at Sidney Kimmel Medical College and Enterprise Physician Leader for Vascular Surgery. The role will take a major part in developing and overseeing vascular surgery clinical activities in an integrated model for the Jefferson Health Enterprise.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct oversight of the Division’s 5 full-time vascular surgeons, Advanced Practice Clinicians, and Fellows along with its clinical portfolio, ensuring state-of-the-art clinical care is delivered.
- Support the growth and development of the Division’s faculty and the continued development of the department’s clinical research portfolio.
- Ensure an outstanding clinical educational experience for medical students, residents, and fellows, supporting recruitment of top faculty and trainees.
- Serve on the Executive Committee of the Bruce & Robbi Toll Heart and Vascular Institute, working closely with the Institute Director to determine how vascular surgery is delivered across Jefferson Hospitals and practice sites.
- Drive transformational change and growth of vascular surgery services by guiding strategy, overseeing implementation, and monitoring performance.
Qualifications
- MD/DO or equivalent international degree, current board certification in Surgery, and eligibility for or licensure to practice in Pennsylvania.
- Nationally and/or internationally recognized physician in the field of Vascular Surgery.
- At least 5 years of leadership experience in clinical operations, ideally combining academic and private practice.
- Academic career trajectory with increasing administrative responsibilities, culminating in roles such as Vice Chair, Associate Chair, Division Chief, Section Head, or equivalent.
- Academic accomplishments meriting appointment at the rank of full professor or associate professor at Sidney Kimmel Medical College.
- Strong record of teaching and supporting academic programs for medical students, residents, and fellows, including experience cultivating academic-clinical partnerships and training programs.
- Experience facilitating and promoting clinical research, with understanding of clinical trial processes and phases.
- Demonstrated commitment to clinical quality excellence, supported by patient satisfaction metrics expected of a high-performing clinician at a leading academic center.
- Track record of faculty development and mentorship.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and health equity.
- Track record of building trusted relationships with key departments and institutional leaders.
