Division Director-Staff Dev & Train (#014921) Training Academy, Columbia (RICHLAND)

Responsibilities

• Directs the department's Division of Staff Development and Training, including managing the design, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive statewide staff development and training program for over 5,000 employees of SCDC.
• Directs day-to-day operations of the certification/recertification program and various development programs to ensure compliance with federal and state legislation, as well as agency policy and procedures.
• Manages staff, resource instructors, training classes, feeding and housing of students, maintenance of building and grounds, and provides security for inmate workers.
• Plans and directs the implementation of the agency's employee development programs using information from organizational needs analysis, management, employee consultation, and program evaluation, including curriculum design/development, testing and evaluation procedures, and instructor performance.
• Requires daily contact with inmates.
• Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC basic training upon hire.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Ten years’ experience in the management of a staff development and training program (SCDC minimum requirement).

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in staff development and training within a corrections or law enforcement agency or a branch of the United States Armed Forces.
