About the role

Manages or performs administrative services or full general operations of an academic or non-academic organization(s). Administrative services include finance and human resources, and may also include IT, facilities, or student services. General management involves long and short-range strategic planning, setting departmental goals, and ensuring accountability and stewardship of human, financial, and physical resources.

Responsibilities

  • Spend majority of time (50% or more) achieving organizational objectives through the coordinated achievements of subordinate staff.
  • Establish departmental goals and objectives, functioning with autonomy.
  • Manage accountability and stewardship of human, financial, and often physical resources in compliance with departmental and organizational goals and objectives.
  • Ensure subordinate supervisors and professionals adhere to defined internal controls.
  • Manage systems and procedures to protect departmental assets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, or Finance and 5 years of increasing Accounting and Operations management experience and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across the organization at all levels; ability to interact with a diverse population.
  • Knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
  • Broad knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques; human resources and risk management planning; and/or accounting and payroll.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to influence/persuade all levels of staff.
  • Skills in organization and customer service to effectively manage multiple important priorities.
  • Proven ability to organize department work functions in an efficient and effective manner.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Business administration, public administration, accounting or finance.
  • Broad knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs.
  • Skills to work collaboratively with other locations.
  • Prominent skills to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify multiple options for resolution.
  • Demonstrated management and conflict resolution skills to effectively lead and motivate others.

Salary Information

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
