Lottery products are sold at over 23,000 retail locations statewide, including independent shops, convenience stores, liquor stores, and supermarkets. Retail offerings include an average of 52 Scratchers® games and several draw games such as Powerball®, Mega Millions®, SuperLotto Plus®, Fantasy 5, and Hot Spot®.
About the Role
The District Sales Representative (DSR) serves as the liaison between the Lottery and authorized Lottery Retailer accounts within an assigned geographic area. Under the supervision of the District Sales Supervisor (DSS) or Lottery Sales Manager (LSM), the DSR conducts field service visits to retailers to provide assistance, guidance, and support in maximizing sales and marketing of Lottery products. This role is critical to helping the Lottery meet its mission of maximizing supplemental funding for public education in California.
This position is headquartered at the Rancho Cucamonga District Office and is not eligible for telework. A valid California driver’s license and safe driving record are required. Candidates must possess or obtain a current District Sales Representative exam eligibility.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary field contact between the Lottery and authorized retailers within an assigned territory.
- Conduct daily field service visits to retail locations to maintain direct contact with retailers and provide sales and marketing support.
- Assist retailers in maximizing sales of Lottery products, including Scratchers® and draw games.
- Drive to retail locations within the assigned territory, ensuring safe and responsible operation of a state vehicle.
- Support the Lottery’s mission of generating supplemental funding for California’s public schools and colleges.
Requirements
- Valid California driver’s license (CDL) and safe driving record.
- Must pass a background investigation and medical clearance prior to hire.
- Must not have been convicted of a felony or any gambling-related offense (per the California State Lottery Act).
- Current District Sales Representative exam eligibility or ability to obtain it.
- Ability to travel daily within the assigned territory and work in an in-office environment.
Qualifications
All experience and education relating to the Minimum Qualifications listed on the Classification Specification should be clearly demonstrated on your State Application (STD Form 678). Candidates should also address how they meet the Desirable Qualifications identified in the job posting.
Applicants with foreign transcripts must provide a transcript evaluation indicating the number of units equivalent to U.S. coursework. Transcripts and evaluations may be unofficial at the time of application but official transcripts will be required upon appointment.
