About the role
In this vital role you will lead an area geography and team of Specialty Account Managers (SAMs) to ensure market penetration. You will analyze and understand market dynamics and data, set strategic action plans, and drive excellence in execution to achieve sales goals within the Endocrinology space.
- Provide a clear, compelling sales purpose—both clinically and business-wise—for team members.
- Ensure effective and appropriate use of resources, including territory management tools/data, cross-functional partners, and marketing tools.
- Build business strategy and strategic impact in line with corporate and therapeutic area goals.
- Lead market development initiatives aligned with corporate and therapeutic area objectives.
- Manage administrative duties, ongoing learning for self and team, operational expenses, program funding, and compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure team members are trained to maximize business/sales potential and deliver a crisp, clear, and high-impact product message.
- Achieve organizational sales goals, target reach/frequency objectives, and other relevant KPIs related to execution excellence.
- Establish a productive work environment by fostering trust and respect within the broader national Endocrinology sales team and positioning yourself as a business partner across the business unit.
- Collaborate effectively across all divisions within the business unit to achieve business objectives.
- Develop an atmosphere of confidence and strength, creating opportunities to recognize and reward outstanding individual and team performance.
- Build an organization reflecting a highly professional workforce in the eyes of external and internal partners.
- Address performance issues decisively and appropriately.
- Develop internal and external customer relationships to drive Amgen’s business objectives within the therapeutic area.
- Foster informative flow of insights and deliver influential messages to gain support for initiatives.
- Develop and communicate professional growth plans for self and team members.
- Continually educate self and team on Endocrinology market issues, trends, and product knowledge relevant to business interests.
- Apply new and innovative technologies to enhance efficiency, expand knowledge, and refine skills.
- Conduct weekly ride-alongs with written feedback and coaching for team members.
- Represent the organization at local, regional, and national trade shows.
- Provide input to regional and national sales meetings (content and objectives).
- Maintain a safe working environment through accident prevention, equipment preservation, and safe working practices.
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor toward all customers and coworkers.
- Adhere to all Amgen policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree AND 2 years of Sales/Marketing experience
- OR Master’s degree AND 6 years of Sales/Marketing experience
- OR Bachelor’s degree AND 8 years of Sales/Marketing experience
- AND 2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation of resources.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Sales experience in biologics, infusion, and/or rare/specialty products.
- Rare disease experience strongly preferred; rare disease launch experience preferred.
- Immunology and/or Rheumatology experience preferred.
- Buy-and-bill experience preferred.
- Experience working with institutions and integrated delivery networks.
- Approximately 80% travel, including some overnight and weekend commitments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
