About the role
ALDI is seeking motivated and ambitious individuals to join our District Manager Trainee (DMT) program. Over an intensive 44-week training period, you will gain comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience preparing you to oversee multiple ALDI stores. As a district manager, you will work closely with store managers to ensure exceptional customer service, foster a positive employee working environment, drive operational excellence, and accelerate sales growth. This role covers Northern & Central Virginia and Eastern North Carolina.

Responsibilities
- Communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to store management to ensure desired results; lead and develop store management personnel.
- Lead, develop, and supervise the assigned store manager team to drive sales, engage teams, satisfy customers, and achieve consistent high performance.
- Support store management in fostering a positive working environment and sense of teamwork among personnel.
- Develop and implement action plans using company-provided resources to improve operating results.
- Work with store managers to recruit, select, promote, and determine store assignments for personnel to ensure proper staffing within the district.
- Confer with direct reports regarding advancement, discipline, or termination of personnel.
- Train and develop direct reports to maximize their professional potential using company-provided training materials.
- Observe and evaluate store employees’ work performance and collaborate with store managers to provide feedback and coaching.
- Collaborate with store managers to resolve escalated employee and customer concerns.
- Oversee execution of the overarching company strategy while communicating and modeling core values.
- Communicate, cooperate, and interact effectively with all levels of ALDI employees, customers, third-party vendors, and business partners.
- Review, investigate, and resolve issues within the district to minimize potential liability.
- Ensure store managements’ compliance with established policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Ensure store managers coach personnel to comply with customer service guidelines and demonstrate appropriate interactions.
- Resolve concerns from store personnel and customers or refer them to the director of store operations as necessary.
- Model, communicate, and supervise compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Support store managers in identifying and resolving hazards, equipment, and ergonomic issues to ensure a safe working environment.
- Supervise adherence to company expense guidelines, inventory procedures, product handling, and cash handling policies to minimize losses and achieve financial targets.
- Ensure store managers maintain store zone and merchandising standards at all times.
- Supervise the achievement of store KPI results and develop personnel and operational plans to meet district goals and budgets.
- Plan and conduct district weekly operations calls, monthly one-to-ones, training sessions, and other company-related events using company-provided materials.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field.
- Ability to develop rapport, trust, and open communication that enhances the performance of direct reports.
- Ability to facilitate group involvement when conducting meetings.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external parties.
- Ability to interpret and apply ALDI operating policies and procedures.
- Problem-solving and conflict management skills.
- Negotiation skills to arrive at satisfactory conclusions using compromise, persuasion, rationale, and diplomacy.
- Knowledge of organizational authority, interdependence of job duties, products, systems, and services.
- Ability to evaluate financial performance and apply data to decision-making.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including preparing written materials for purpose and audience.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete activities consistent with personal and organizational needs.
- Attention to detail and ability to establish and execute plans and goals.
- Knowledge of human resource management, including recruitment, selection, training, development, motivation, retention, and separation.
- Daily domestic travel is required; a company car is provided, and all related expenses are covered.
Pay
- Starting Salary: $95,000
- Signing Bonus: $5,000
- Salary Increases: Year 2 - $110,000 | Year 3 - $120,000 | Year 4 - $130,000
