About the role
This role contributes to Sharp Energy’s success by leading district operations within an assigned service area to create and maintain the Sharp Energy experience for our customers and partners. The District Manager is required to regularly and customarily exercise discretion in managing the overall operation of the district, developing staff and management talent, overseeing the workforce, making operational decisions, ensuring customer satisfaction and service quality, managing financial performance, and maintaining safety and security.
Responsibilities
- Directly supervise all employees in the district, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Develop the district staff and management team to deliver legendary customer experiences.
- Drive the implementation of company programs by motivating and supporting staff to develop and execute action plans that meet operational and organizational objectives.
- Manage through unusual events to maintain district operations to standard.
- Promote and uphold the culture, values, and mission of Sharp Energy through leadership with integrity and honesty.
- Plan, identify, communicate, and delegate key responsibilities to ensure smooth district operations.
- Review district environment and key business indicators to identify problems, concerns, and opportunities, providing coaching to achieve operational goals.
- Create district implementation plans to support regional and company initiatives, ensuring accountability through consistent follow-up.
- Monitor and manage district-wide management staffing, compensation, talent acquisition, and partner development.
- Utilize tools to prioritize and filter communications, ensuring clear and effective operations.
- Supervise district employees, including Service Manager, Delivery Manager, Customer Service Manager, and Sales Representative(s).
- Prepare, review, and monitor district financial capital budgets and monthly operating expenses.
- Monitor monthly sales volumes and prepare projected capital expenditure requirements.
- Perform ongoing operational analysis via data reporting.
- Monitor and review reports such as overtime summaries, run out summaries, lost/gained customer reports, tank/liquid inventory reports, delivery efficiency reports, and appliance inventory.
- Participate in developing customer retention and new customer programs.
- Prepare bid quotations and manage retail propane pricing and rates.
- Monitor customer gain and loss, ensuring Sharp’s commitment to quality customer service is instilled in all employees.
- Assess district personnel’s quality service skills and make recommendations for improvement.
- Handle complex customer problems using superior customer service skills.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, conduct monthly safety meetings, and review/approve incident investigation reports.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Three to five years of relevant experience in operations management.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Outlook), P&L, and financial acumen.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, leadership, supervisory, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to speak and act professionally before groups of customers or employees.
- Ability to liaise effectively with internal and external customers.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
