About the role

Serves as executive leadership for the Vincennes District, guiding the team to safely build, maintain, and operate INDOT's infrastructure in 17 counties within Southwestern Indiana. Maintain and foster positive working relationships with internal business partners to include executives and senior leadership. Develop and maintain relationships with other local, state, federal, and privately owned agencies that include transportation, public works, public safety and law enforcement, environmental management, natural resources, utilities, land developers, consulting firms, and emergency services providers. Manages a multi-million-dollar annual operating and capital budget to provide safe and efficient roadway systems and high value infrastructure improvement projects.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and fosters relationships with executive staff and other operations staff.
  • Financially accountable and responsible for the comprehensive management of the district.
  • Manages an annual operating and capital budget to provide safe and efficient roadway systems and high value infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Develops and defines agency goals and objectives and provides specific and timely performance reports.
  • Analyzes input information and makes recommendations.
  • Directs/supervises staff to conduct continual quality assurance reviews for district personnel functions including employee safety, professional development, and human resources policies.
  • Develops and ensures monitoring and reporting of the district’s performance measurements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with other local, state, federal, and privately owned agencies that include transportation, public works, public safety and law enforcement, environmental management, natural resources, utilities, land developers, consulting firms, and emergency services providers.
  • Serves on various internal and external committees, workgroups, and boards as required on matters related to the successful performance of the district.

Requirements

Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following: Ability to efficiently manage staff, resources, priorities, and schedules.Strong ability to effectively communicate initiatives, goals, and policies to district staff, internal executives, and external customers.Knowledge and application of policies\procedures in the field of highway access management, construction, maintenance, winter operations, and their related impacts on local and regional economies preferred.Ability to make sound, well-informed and objective decisions which perceives the impact and implications of decisions.Ability to identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives and to make recommendations.Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow.Ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets.

Qualifications

A degree is not required. However, at least 15+ years of experience applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered. Individuals should have the ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Pay

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $102,024.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.

Schedule

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
