Deputy Commissioner (Audit Division)

Duties

  • Lead over 1,100 staff responsible for fair and effective tax audits;
  • Manage the development, execution, and measurement of audit programs that effectively use department resources;
  • Position the department to incorporate technology to modernize and improve tax auditing practices;
  • Establish policies and procedures for the conduct of audits to ensure they are performed efficiently, and taxpayers are treated fairly and consistently;
  • Participate in the strategic decision-making process on department or division wide initiatives and ensure the Division is aligned with Department priorities;
  • Represent the Department at meetings of various professional groups, civic groups, and other groups involved with the tax audit process;
  • Represent the Division in discussions with the Division of Budget and other control agencies;
  • Develop and maintain a strong professional development program to provide for continuous improvement, retention and succession planning.

Qualifications

  • At least ten years of specialized experience with tax audits in the public or private sector;
  • Five years of this experience must have been at a managerial level.
