The Display and Merchandising Associate plays a hands-on creative role in supporting the planning, production, and installation of merchandising, displays, props, and event installations that bring the Samuel & Sons brand and products to life.

Working under the direction of the Art Director, this role participates in projects from initial planning and material sourcing through fabrication and final installation. Projects may include showroom displays and merchandising, trade shows, events, photography props and sets, and other brand installations. The ideal candidate combines a strong visual eye with a hands-on, resourceful approach to making things. This role requires an understanding of interiors, textiles, color, scale, and composition, as well as a willingness to build, assemble, install, and problem-solve in a fast-paced creative environment. Regular travel to Samuel & Sons locations and other installation sites is an important part of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Art Director in developing and executing merchandising plans and display concepts for showrooms, windows, trade shows, events, and other brand installations.
  • Assist with space planning, layouts, mood boards, material selections, renderings, and other visual planning materials used to prepare for installations.
  • Merchandise Samuel & Sons products to reflect brand standards and support product and collection stories.
  • Collaborate with showroom teams and the Art Director to support installations and adapt display concepts to the needs and physical characteristics of individual locations.
  • Source, build, assemble, modify, and prepare props, display components, and materials for installations, photography, and other creative projects.
  • Participate hands-on in the installation, styling, breakdown, packing, and transportation of displays and merchandising materials.
  • Work closely with the in-house Seamstress and outside fabricators to develop custom elements, including opportunities to learn and apply sewing and soft-goods fabrication techniques.
  • Troubleshoot installation and fabrication challenges creatively while maintaining the quality and intent of the approved design.
  • Complete assigned project work within established timelines, priorities, and budgets, proactively communicating material needs, production requirements, and potential challenges to the Art Director.
  • Assist with sourcing props, materials, fabrication services, and other project needs from vendors and suppliers within established specifications and timelines.
  • Partner with Creative, Photography, Marketing, Sales, Product Development, and showroom teams as needed to support successful project execution.
  • Travel regularly to showrooms, trade shows, and other locations to assist with the planning, merchandising, installation, and breakdown of displays.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • 1–2 years of experience in visual merchandising, display, interiors, set/prop production, or a related creative field preferred.
  • Degree in Interior Design, Visual Merchandising, Fine Arts, Design, or a related field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered.
  • Experience working with textiles, luxury products, interiors, or design-focused brands is a plus.
  • Experience with hands-on fabrication, installation, prop making, or similar creative production strongly preferred.
  • Sewing knowledge is a strong plus, with an interest and willingness to further develop sewing and soft-goods fabrication skills.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of visual merchandising principles, color, scale, composition, and spatial planning.
  • Comfortable working hands-on with a variety of materials, tools, props, and display components.
  • Proficiency or working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or SketchUp preferred.
  • Ability to read or develop basic layouts, elevations, renderings, or other visual plans.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Soft Skills

  • Creative, resourceful, and solutions-oriented with a strong visual eye and attention to detail.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Collaborative and comfortable working with creative teams, vendors, sales team, and other departments.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to travel and work outside standard hours when required for installations.
  • Comfortable working independently on-site while following established creative direction and project plans.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and move throughout extended installation and merchandising periods.
  • Ability to safely handle tools, props, display components, samples, and installation materials.
  • Regular domestic travel to showroom and installation locations, with occasional work outside standard business hours based on project requirements.

Pay

$24 to $26 hourly
