Dispensary Supervisor

About the role
The Dispensary Supervisor oversees all day-to-day operations in the dispensary, including aiding the Dispensary Manager, meeting guests’ expectations for quality and service, and cash handling. Responsibilities include accountability for accurately utilizing the state NJMMP site and Metrc Point-Of-Sales system, daily register balances, and product inventory; troubleshooting patient-related discrepancies; and maintaining a smooth operational flow.
Responsibilities
- Inspires and motivates teams by leading by example, fostering a positive atmosphere, and promoting a guest-first philosophy.
- Spends majority of time on the retail floor overseeing staff and ensuring exceptional guest experience.
- Supports training and development of team members, coaching on service and product knowledge.
- Promotes selling and service skills to achieve sales goals and KPIs.
- Partners with managers on goal setting and establishing daily/weekly/monthly performance objectives.
- Strategically plans daily agenda to ensure adequate staffing and monitors breaks and floor coverage.
- Assigns and oversees daily tasks for sales, inventory, and security functions.
- Communicates daily specials, promotions, and operational updates to staff.
- Intervenes and de-escalates guest concerns and complaints.
- Holds staff accountable for handbook policies (attendance, uniform, cash handling, etc.).
- Ensures the store is maintained to high standards of aesthetics, merchandising, organization, and cleanliness.
- Upholds security and safety measures, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Partners with management on employee behavioral issues, delivering feedback, disciplinary actions, and performance reviews.
- Identifies and communicates business opportunities related to product assortment, processes, sales, and team development.
- Responsible for opening and closing the store as assigned.
- May assume specific areas of responsibility (e.g., scheduling, time/attendance tracking, education, accounting, supply ordering).
- Assists Dispensary Manager in inventory control and compliance, performing all receiving, transferring, reporting, and inventory management functions within seed-to-sale software.
- Monitors dispensary for flow, staffing needs, service quality, inventory changes, atmosphere, and security.
- Ensures items are correctly priced in POS system and have accurate price tags; oversees loyalty programs and discount applications.
- Reviews employee schedules and follows time-keeping policies, including scheduling breaks and lunches; enacts disciplinary actions when required.
- Builds rapport with staff and patients, resolves conflicts, and strengthens relationships.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming environment inside and outside the facility.
- Picks and builds orders for sales; supports morning and evening inventory counts.
- Assists in receipt and in-processing of incoming product deliveries and physical recording of daily inventory.
- Supports inventory cycle counts.
- Follows dispensary cash handling policies for drops and deposits.
- Counts and closes daily tills, ensuring balanced counts; coordinates cash counts with management.
- Ensures cash is bundled for pickup in accordance with bank guidelines.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic math skills for inventory, projections, and measurements.
- Excellent time-management and prioritization skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, reliability, and honesty.
- Strong focus and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly.
- Ability to remain calm in high-stress or unusual situations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Proficiency with inventory systems and office equipment.
- Must pass state background check (state mandated).
Skills
- Extended time standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for 100 feet.
- Close visual focus required; ability to stand for extended periods (more than 4 hours).

Schedule
40 hours per week, open availability required including weekends and holidays as needed for business operations. Schedule subject to change based on business needs.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
The role operates in a manufacturing environment requiring extended standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Ability to carry up to 50 lbs for up to 100 feet may be required. Occasional extended and repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers to manipulate small objects. Ability to work in a humid and pollinated environment.
