Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Dispensary General Manager to lead our Somerville, MA dispensary through an exciting period of growth and transition. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced retail leader to play a pivotal role in bringing the EMBR brand, operational standards, and guest experience to a new market.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales & Financial Management
- Drive sales performance by executing promotions, merchandising initiatives, and customer engagement strategies.
- Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), including sales, labor, average basket size, conversion, inventory variance, and profitability to identify opportunities for growth.
- Manage daily sales reporting, cash handling, and reconciliation of all financial transactions.
- Ensure accurate daily bank deposits and maintain strict cash accountability procedures.
- Develop and manage store budgets while controlling labor and operating expenses.
- Partner with Regional Leadership to execute strategic initiatives that improve operational efficiency and financial performance.
- Oversee all day-to-day retail operations while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, organization, and professionalism.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through routine cycle counts, audits, reconciliations, and proper METRC inventory management.
- Ensure all security, safety, and operational procedures are consistently followed.
- Identify operational opportunities and implement solutions that improve efficiency and enhance the customer experience.
- Foster a guest-first culture focused on education, hospitality, and exceptional service.
- Address customer concerns promptly, professionally, and with a solution-oriented approach.
- Continuously coach the team to deliver an outstanding retail experience that reflects the EMBR brand.
- Recruit, hire, onboard, train, and retain exceptional team members.
- Develop Assistant Managers, Leads, and future leaders through coaching, accountability, and performance management.
- Create and manage weekly schedules that balance business needs with labor efficiency.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance evaluations, and ongoing coaching conversations.
- Foster a culture of accountability, recognition, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Lead by example and maintain professionalism while creating a positive, engaging workplace.
- Lead the successful transition of the Somerville dispensary into the EMBR brand, ensuring operational consistency and a seamless customer experience.
- Champion EMBR's culture, values, leadership expectations, and operational standards throughout the organization.
- Drive adoption of company SOPs, merchandising standards, service expectations, and operational best practices.
- Partner closely with Regional Leadership and corporate support teams to successfully implement new initiatives and operational improvements.
- Serve as a change leader by helping the team embrace new processes while maintaining engagement, morale, and accountability.
- Organize and support store events, vendor activations, and community partnerships.
- Build relationships within the local community to strengthen brand awareness and customer loyalty.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Regional Leadership on promotional campaigns and local initiatives.
Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive retail management experience, including at least two (2) years leading a high-volume retail operation.
- Previous cannabis retail management experience strongly preferred.
- Thorough understanding of Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) regulations and cannabis retail compliance preferred.
- Proven track record of driving sales growth, operational excellence, and team development.
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, labor management, inventory control, and reporting.
- Excellent leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and coaching skills.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt quickly, lead through change, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with retail POS systems, Microsoft Office, and inventory management software.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
