Dispatcher / CDL A Driver - Dedicated Trucking

About the role

Miller Dedicated Services is hiring a Dispatcher / Driver (CDL A) for our location in Swedesboro, NJ. The position involves a mix of office-based dispatching and occasional driving or training duties.

Responsibilities

• Prepare daily dispatch schedule for drivers and equipment
• Utilize dynamic routing program to efficiently route outbound product
• Build and update inbound and outbound orders in dispatch program
• Respond promptly to driver inquiries regarding delays, traffic, directions, etc.
• Monitor drivers' hours to prevent DOT violations
• Adjust delivery and backhaul assignments to accommodate unforeseen route changes
• Fill in for driver call-outs and assume assigned route for the day (typically 1x/week)
• Assist with training team drivers and reinforcing safety protocols
• Follow attendance policy, arrive on time, and work assigned shift
• Perform other duties as required
• Effectively use radio, telephone, or computer to transmit assignments

Requirements

• 2+ years of dispatching experience
• 2+ years of CDL A professional driving experience
• Experience with MS Office, Transportation Management Systems, and DOT Rules and Regulations
• Ability to build positive relationships with drivers and customers
• Composure in all interactions and a team-oriented attitude
• Strong reasoning, negotiating, and instructing skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Coachable attitude with a focus on customer service
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work Monday - Friday from 3:00 AM until 12:00 PM, with occasional Saturdays if needed
