Dispatcher

Transdev is hiring for a Dispatcher role supporting Boston Public Schools, overseeing road service and providing customer support to clients.

About the role

As a Dispatcher, you will oversee road service through communication with Operators, manage trip performance measures, and provide customer support for no-shows, cancellations, and missed trips. You will handle emergency situations, escalated calls, and maintain department reports while prioritizing requests based on urgency.

Responsibilities

• Oversee road service and trip performance measures (e.g., route start time, on-time performance, incidents).
• Respond to customer and driver questions about no-shows, cancellations, and missed trips.
• Manage vehicle operator emergency situations and escalated calls.
• Handle department reports and communication tools.
• Support employees and drivers with internal and external requests.
• Assist the Dispatch Manager with resolving problems and requests.
• Prioritize calls or window flow based on importance and urgency.
• Maintain contact with drivers to communicate updates, delays, or special instructions.
• Learn all dispatch functions, including Radio & window operations.
• Adhere to all Transdev Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the role.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Computer literate with intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work shifts or flexible schedules as needed.
• Subject to DOT drug testing and physical (if applicable). Note: DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 prohibits the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
• High level of problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to address service concerns proactively.

Physical Requirements

• Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day).
• Frequently walk for long distances on potentially sloped, slippery, or uneven surfaces.
• Push, pull, and lift objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday.
• Occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to access files or equipment stored at ground level.
• Withstand heavy traffic areas, exposure to dust, vehicle fumes, and noise.
• Conduct oral and written presentations on behalf of the organization.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
