Dispatcher

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning, coordinating, and supervising of delivery team members and assign specific responsibilities which includes dispatching, route assignments, account processing, route delivery and other transportation related activities.
• Arrange transportation for LTL/FTL east bound orders.
• Cookordination with contracted trucking dispatchers and drivers.
• Sequence routes daily to keep loads even and profitable.
• Manage the preparation of delivery documents for truckers.
• Cookordinate pick-ups/deliveries with facilities and cold storage locations.
• Emphasize customer service and productivity.
• Maximize safety.
• Ensure compliance of all Federal, State, Local and DOT regulations and requirements.
• Work closely with the Transportation Supervisor and Transportation Manager to achieve targeted objectives and goals.
• Utilize business support systems to improve efficiency.
• Provide and promote a clean and safe working environment at all times.

Required

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of two years related experience.
• PREFERRED: Associates degree from an accredited college or university, in related field.
• Basic computer set up support skills (Phone and PC/Laptop).
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong computer skills in MS Office Suite, primarily Word and Excel.
• Strong data entry skills.

Physical Requirements

• Sedentary work, walking and standing are required only occasionally.
• Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
• Fingering. Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
• Talking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
• Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
• Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
• Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
