About the role

As a Community Utility Associate at Alamar Senior Living, you will perform a variety of food service functions to maintain clean and sanitary conditions in the community’s food services, facilities, and equipment. This role involves washing dishes, pots, and pans, general cleaning, equipment maintenance, food and supply storage and rotation, and garbage removal. You will ensure machinery is left empty, clean, and dry, and keep floors clean after each meal.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the posted work schedule, arriving on time and in appropriate work attire.
  • Properly wash china, flatware, glassware, and other kitchen equipment, ensuring correct machine rinse pressure and water temperature.
  • Maintain the kitchen and other assigned areas in a sanitary condition.
  • Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with kitchen personnel and residents.
  • Follow food-handling procedures and regulations.
  • Operate kitchen appliances such as garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, and ice machine.
  • Assist with food preparation, inventory, maintenance, food deliveries, and stocking shelves as needed.
  • Follow all emergency procedures and safety practices.
  • Report on-the-job injuries to the Community Cook and/or Food & Beverage Director before the end of the shift.
  • Communicate effectively with the Food & Beverage Director and other staff.
  • Advise the Food & Beverage Director of any changes in the physical or mental health of a resident immediately.
  • Maintain an acceptable attendance record and notify the Food & Beverage Director if late or unable to work.

Requirements

  • High School diploma preferred; GED accepted.
  • Some kitchen experience is desirable.
  • Basic knife skills required.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Physically able to bend, reach, push, pull, and lift up to 40-50 pounds if necessary.
  • Physically able to stand for extended periods.
  • Must be in good physical and emotional health and free of communicable diseases.
  • Background, criminal, and drug tests may be required; may be subject to random drug testing during employment.

Miscellaneous

  • May be required to work weekends, holidays, or extended hours (up to 16 hours per day).
  • May be required to work shifts other than the one for which hired.

  • Could be subject to hostile or emotionally upset residents due to mental status.
  • May have your picture taken and image used in social media or community advertising.
  • May be video recorded from devices installed by families in residents’ apartments.
