About the role

At The Glades at Championsgate, the Community Utility Associate performs a variety of food service functions to maintain clean and sanitary conditions in Community food services, facilities, and equipment. This role involves washing dishes, pots, and pans, general and equipment cleaning, storage and rotation of food and supplies, and garbage removal. The associate ensures machinery is left empty, clean, and dry, and keeps floors clean after each meal.

Responsibilities

  • Follows the posted work schedule and arrives on time and in appropriate work attire.
  • Responsible for the proper washing of china, flatware, glassware, and other kitchen equipment, including machine rinse pressure and water temperature.
  • Maintains the kitchen and other assigned areas in a sanitary condition.
  • Establishes and maintains constructive working relationships with other kitchen personnel and residents.
  • Familiar with food-handling procedures and regulations.
  • Operates kitchen appliances such as garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, and ice machine.
  • May assist with food preparation, inventory, maintenance, food deliveries, and stocking shelves.
  • Follows all emergency procedures and understands safety practices and procedures.
  • Reports on-the-job injuries to the Community Cook and/or Food & Beverage Director before the end of the work shift on the day the injury occurs.
  • Communicates effectively with the Food & Beverage Director and other staff.
  • Advises the Food & Beverage Director of any changes in the physical or mental health of a resident immediately.
  • Maintains an acceptable attendance record, notifies the Food & Beverage Director if expecting to be late or unable to work, and follows the work schedule.

Requirements

  • High School diploma preferred; GED accepted.
  • Some kitchen experience is desirable.
  • Basic knife skills required.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrates good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Physically able to bend, reach, push, pull, and lift up to 40-50 pounds if necessary.
  • Physically able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be in good physical and emotional health and free of communicable diseases.
  • Background, criminal, and drug tests may be required.
  • May be subject to random drug testing during employment.
  • May be required to work weekends, holidays, extended hours (up to 16 hours per day), or shifts other than the one for which hired.
  • May be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions (e.g., HIV, AIDS, Hepatitis B and C viruses), and hostile or emotionally upset residents due to mental status.
  • May have their picture taken and image used in social media or community advertising.
  • May be video recorded from devices installed by families in residents’ apartments.
