Dishwasher (Utility Associate)

About the role

As a Community Utility Associate, you will perform a variety of food service functions to maintain clean and sanitary conditions in our Community food services, facilities, and equipment. Your responsibilities will include washing dishes, pots, and pans, general cleaning, equipment maintenance, food and supply storage and rotation, and garbage removal. You will ensure machinery is left empty, clean, and dry, and keep floors clean after each meal.

Responsibilities

• Follow the posted work schedule, arriving on time and in appropriate work attire.
• Properly wash china, flatware, glassware, and other kitchen equipment, ensuring machine rinse pressure and water temperature are correct.
• Maintain the kitchen and other assigned areas in a sanitary condition.
• Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with other kitchen personnel and residents.
• Familiarize yourself with food-handling procedures and regulations.
• Operate kitchen appliances such as garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, and ice machine.
• Assist with food preparation, inventory, maintenance, food deliveries, and stocking shelves as needed.
• Follow all emergency procedures and safety practices.
• Report on-the-job injuries to the Community Cook and/or Food & Beverage Director before the end of the work shift.
• Communicate effectively with the Food & Beverage Director and other staff.
• Advise the Food & Beverage Director of any changes in the physical or mental health of a resident immediately.
• Maintain an acceptable attendance record, notify the Food & Beverage Director if you expect to be late or unable to work, and adhere to the work schedule.

Requirements

• High School diploma preferred; GED accepted.
• Some kitchen experience is desirable.
• Basic knife skills required.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Organizational and time management skills.
• Good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Physically able to bend, reach, push, pull, and lift up to 40-50 pounds if necessary.
• Physically able to stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be in good physical and emotional health and free of communicable diseases.
• Background, criminal, and drug tests may be required.
• May be subject to random drug testing during employment.
• May be required to work weekends, holidays, extended hours (up to 16 hours per day), or shifts other than the one for which hired.
• May be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including HIV, AIDS, and Hepatitis B and C viruses.
• Could be subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents due to mental status.
• May have your picture taken and image used in social media or community advertising.
• May be video recorded from devices installed by families in residents’ apartments.
