Disabilities Day Program Coordinator

About the role

TURN Community Services is a nonprofit founded in 1973 by parents seeking better services for their adult children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve more than 850 individuals with developmental disabilities through a variety of services including day programs, residential living, art center programs, summer camp, and supported employment opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, supervise, and participate in the development and implementation of person-centered behavior support, support plans, and curricula for each person.
• Ensure that each individual's personal goals and well-being are met through their individualized support plan while at the art and learning day program.
• Support individuals in the program with personal hygiene, frequent assistance with moving or transfers which includes lifting up to 50 pounds, social skills, communication, safety, recreation and leisure, and various other skills to learn independence in their lives.
• Represent TURN in the community and other professional settings, ensuring all stakeholders are satisfied.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with individuals and stakeholders.
• Help individuals with disabilities in the art and learning program learn various skills to gain independence in their lives.

Requirements

• 1+ years of work experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (experience with challenging behaviors will be given preference).
• 1+ years of supervisory experience in a work setting, consisting of interviewing and hiring staff, monitoring and evaluating performance, staff training and development, staff discipline, and scheduling.
• An art background and experience with adult related arts in various disciplines.
• 18+ years of age.
• Personal and reliable transportation.
• Valid driver's license, current motor vehicle insurance, and clean driving record.
• Willingness to drive large program buses and vans, and to train new employees to drive large vehicles.

Qualifications

Knowledge of general medical conditions is not required. Excellent time management skills and leadership experience are preferred.

Skills

Exceptional communication skills, leadership, and teamwork experience are essential.

Pay

The salary for this social services position is $49,068 per year.

Schedule

The typical schedule for this position is Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:30am to 4:30pm. Flexibility to work outside of the typical schedule will be needed for program and agency needs and events.
