Job Responsibilities
- Leads a cross-functional integrated discovery team with functional leaders from Protein/antibody Sciences, Linker-Payload discovery, Bio-conjugation discovery, in vitro characterization, in vivo characterization, Developability study in accordance to discovery phases.
- Has oversight over functional teams and provides project and portfolio leadership, supporting lead selection for preclinical candidates.
- Collaborates with discovery functional areas to ensure successful execution of various integrated discovery projects, and delivery of results on time and within budget.
- Coordinates efforts and facilitates communication to ensure alignment between WuXi XDC and clients.
- Works with a high-performance team to ensure the best quality services.
- Enhances current services and develops new clients.
- Led the scope discussion and proposal review.
- Identifies the technical risks and provides preventive strategies.
- Facilitates cross projects and cross sites sharing and learning.
- Participates/leads task force for specific technical topics.
Qualifications
- PhD in biological sciences, biochemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, or related discipline with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- Strong experience in bio-conjugation.
- Comprehensive scientific background in biotechnology, and/or protein chemistry, and/or small molecule drug discovery, and/or analytics, and/or in vitro / in vivo characterization.
- Proven experience in creating and carrying out successful plans and processes to solve complex problems.
- Works closely with team members across all discovery related business units and with the WuXi XDC management team to ensure coordination of all efforts and real-time communication with all stakeholders.
- Must be self-motivated, and highly flexible for online meetings necessary with clients and technical teams during evening time.
- Proficiency in English and Mandarin.
Other Special Requirements
- Candidate should possess strong and effective project management, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills and have a proven track record working cross-functionally across a wide variety of technical, business, and operational areas.
- Demonstrates good understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and small or large molecule drug discovery.
- Experienced in working in cross-functional project teams and in complex environments, experience in project management and risk assessment is a plus.
- Experience in a Contract Research Organization (CRO) or Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO) is preferred, but not required.
- Must have working knowledge of MS Office products.
