About the role

The Director of Title IX and Institutional Compliance serves as the University’s Title IX Coordinator and leads the institution’s response to reports of sexual misconduct, discrimination, and harassment.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and addresses any systemic problems/patterns related to sexual misconduct and other areas of protected class, and works with other departments to ensure all discrimination/harassment policies are legally compliant and communicated to all constituencies.
  • Oversees and ensures a legally compliant intake and resolution process for discrimination and harassment complaints from faculty, staff, and students.
  • Oversees the investigative and decision-making process for discrimination and harassment complaints from faculty, staff, and students.
  • Oversees the provision of case management services for faculty, staff, and students of concern related to sexual misconduct or protected class-based incidents, via assessment, outreach, advocacy, and assistance in accessing university resources and community resources and systems.
  • Ensure Belmont community members receive appropriate follow-up to ensure Title IX and legal compliance.
  • Serves the university through participation in institutional decision-making, university-wide committees and teams, and attendance at campus functions.
  • Consults with campus partners on protected class compliance questions and concerns.
  • Oversees the provision of education, training, and services to the university community related to the prevention of sexual misconduct, Title IX, and protected class discrimination and harassment.
  • Serves as a consultant to the Behavioral Intervention Team, to evaluate and determine the university’s response to identified safety concerns involving students.
  • Serves as a consultant to the Threat Assessment Team, which is focused on behavioral intervention measures, both internally and externally, regarding staff, faculty, and the campus community as a whole.

Qualifications

  • Project/Program/Service Management: Ability to coordinate and administer programs/project activities and protocols. Ability to manage resources, monitor activities, and assess risks and quality issues associated with the program/project.
  • Written and Oral Communications: Ability to present information to individuals or groups; ability to deliver presentations suited to the characteristics and needs of the audience. Ability to convey information clearly and concisely to groups or individuals either verbally or in writing to ensure that they understand the information and the message. Ability to listen and respond appropriately to others. Ability to impact and influence others to further the institution’s strategic objectives.
  • Technical, Computer, and Software Skills: Ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and basic databases and software.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to respond to high-pressure situations. Ability to thrive in an environment of hard work.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
