About the role

The Valley Medical Group and The Valley Hospital are seeking a Director, Thoracic Surgery to lead their comprehensive cancer care program. The successful candidate will be a highly skilled thoracic surgeon with a proven track record of leadership and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive thoracic surgery program that aligns with Valley's mission and goals.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide state-of-the-art care for patients with thoracic diseases, including lung cancer, esophageal cancer, mediastinal disease, and foregut disorders.
  • Develop and maintain a robust clinical trials program to advance research and treatment options for thoracic cancer patients.
  • Facilitate educational opportunities for residents and fellows in thoracic surgery and related fields.
  • Advocate for quality improvement initiatives and patient safety protocols within the department.
  • Participate in academic activities, including teaching, research, and publication.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree with board certification in General Surgery and Thoracic Surgery.
  • At least 5 years of experience in thoracic surgery, preferably in a high-volume academic setting.
  • Experience with minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Current New Jersey Medical License, DEA, and CDS.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in relevant field.
  • Proven track record of success in leadership roles.
  • Experience in academic medicine and medical education.
  • Strong commitment to patient care and clinical innovation.
