Director, Technology - Core Banking (Mainframe)

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the technology roadmap for the platform
• Lead the architecture, development, maintenance, and modernization of the platform
• Drive legacy modernization initiatives, including cloud adoption and API-enabled integrations
• Oversee integrations with third-party platforms and acquired systems
• Improve operational efficiency, system reliability, and engineering best practices
• Lead and mentor teams of engineers, architects, analysts, and offshore resources
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and technical excellence
• Ensure platform security, regulatory compliance, disaster recovery, and business continuity
• Partner with business and technology leaders to align technology strategy with organizational goals

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
• 10+ years of technology experience, including 7+ years in leadership roles
• Experience managing large-scale, highly available enterprise platforms
• Strong background with core banking platforms, mainframe technologies, and COBOL
• Experience with cloud technologies, distributed systems, APIs, and modern integration patterns
• Knowledge of data architecture, batch processing, and real-time transaction processing
• Proven success leading modernization initiatives while maintaining production stability
• Strong communication, leadership, and vendor management skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading core banking platform implementations or modernization efforts
• Background in mergers, acquisitions, or large-scale platform integrations
• Experience bridging legacy mainframe environments with modern engineering practices
• Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, Agile methodologies, and AI-assisted development tools
