About the Role

Raymond James is seeking a Technology Director with strong leadership skills and an application development background. This highly visible role within Raymond James Bank supports the continued growth and increasing complexity of the Corporate and Mortgage Banking technology portfolio. The position involves extensive contact with all management levels and internal customers to identify, research, analyze, and resolve complex technology issues. You will manage a team responsible for the development, modification, and maintenance of applications (both vendor and in-house built) and integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for key Corporate and Mortgage Banking initiatives, including Corporate Loan Origination Systems (Allvue Everest), LoanIQ reconciliation and integration efforts, Mortgage Loan Origination system (ICE Encompass), and related banking technology solutions. Drive execution, manage risk, and ensure alignment with business and strategic objectives.
  • Lead a team of specialized analysts and developers, managing team performance, maturing processes, adhering to service level objectives, and overseeing project management activities and resource allocation across multiple geographic locations.
  • Coach and develop the team to maximize performance, encouraging growth and skill development.
  • Collaborate with business partners to understand requirements, design IT solutions, and ensure they meet business needs with a pragmatic approach.
  • Ensure the team maintains high standards for software performance, maintainability, and quality.
  • Influence the prioritization of business unit technology projects, optimal project structure, and administration to meet strategic objectives and manage risk.
  • Focus on workforce management to accurately capture IT resource capacity, involving internal and external resources, processes, and practices.
  • Develop and maintain development methodology, ensuring all team members understand their responsibilities.
  • Participate in after-hours support activities for critical production issues, file transmission support, and technology implementations as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience, including management or leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience supporting Corporate Lending platforms and processes; Mortgage Origination experience preferred.
  • Proven technology leader with experience leading multiple teams, strategic initiatives, and complex technology programs in an enterprise environment.
  • Demonstrated success building and developing high-performing teams through coaching, mentoring, talent development, and performance management.
  • Strong ability to build trusted relationships with business partners and internal Technology teams, fostering collaboration and alignment.
  • Experience delivering technology solutions and projects on time, within budget, and aligned with business priorities.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for business audiences and business requirements into actionable technology solutions.
  • Strong technical background supporting both internally developed and vendor-supported applications, including technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, JBoss, Oracle, SQL Server, APIs, and enterprise integration solutions.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership and guidance in solution design, estimation, planning, implementation, and production support activities.
  • Working knowledge of SDLC methodologies, Agile and Waterfall delivery frameworks, and software engineering best practices.
  • Experience with risk management, issue management, change management, requirements gathering, IT controls, audit requirements, and application access management.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities, identify and mitigate risks, and drive resolution of complex business and technology issues.
  • Experience partnering with Architecture, Infrastructure, Information Security, PMO, and other technology teams to successfully deliver enterprise solutions.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills with a focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer and Information Science, Information Technology, or equivalent; High School diploma required as a minimum.
  • 10 to 15 years of general experience, with 6 to 10 years of management experience.
  • Certifications: None required.
  • Travel: Less than 25%.
