Director, Specimen Acquisition & Data Management
Position Summary
Lead the strategy and day-to-day operations for biospecimen management supporting research and development initiatives. Oversee sample acquisition, inventory, processing, tracking, vendor partnerships, regulatory compliance, and team leadership to ensure high-quality specimen management across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end biospecimen management, including acquisition, inventory, labeling, processing, tracking, and distribution.
Develop and optimize specimen management processes and workflows.
Manage specimen archives and ensure data integrity across tracking systems.
Oversee vendor relationships and specimen acquisition partners.
Collaborate with R&D, laboratory, and cross-functional teams to support project timelines.
Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, FDA, and quality management requirements.
Develop reporting and tracking systems to improve operational visibility.
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team.
Drive continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and customer service excellence.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Medical Technology, or related scientific discipline.
10+ years of laboratory or biospecimen management experience.
5+ years of leadership experience managing laboratory or operations teams.
Strong knowledge of biospecimen management, biobanking, and specimen metadata.
Experience supporting translational research or molecular diagnostics preferred.
Deep understanding of CLIA, CAP, FDA, and quality system requirements.
Experience with LIMS/LIS platforms, data management, and workflow optimization.
Experience managing external vendors and cross-functional stakeholders.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Salary: 190-210K
