Position Overview
Flagship Pioneering is seeking a highly skilled and strategic compensation leader to oversee the design, management, and execution of non-executive compensation programs across our ecosystem. This role sits within the Total Rewards team and is responsible for Flagship's internal operations as well as its Series A and B Portfolio Companies globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Compensation Program Leadership
- Design, implement, and continuously refine broad-based compensation programs across a global footprint, including geographic differentials, salary structures, job leveling, and bonus frameworks.
- Lead annual compensation review cycles (merit, bonus, promotion) in close partnership with HR Business Partners, Finance, and Talent Acquisition.
- Craft competitive, market-aligned offers while maintaining internal equity.
- Conduct ongoing market benchmarking and compensation analysis, leveraging tools such as Radford and Pave.
- Maintain and evolve our pay transparency and pay equity frameworks across the organization.
- Strategic Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Partner with executive compensation, equity, and benefits leads to ensure cohesive Total Rewards strategy.
- Provide guidance on compensation practices, offer structures, and policy interpretation to HRBPs and senior business leaders.
- Prepare and deliver insights, reports, and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Global Compensation & Compliance
- Maintain deep awareness of compensation regulations across key geographies.
- Develop and maintain localization frameworks to ensure regional competitiveness and compliance.
- Advise on global mobility compensation matters and cross-border assignments.
- Team and Operational Excellence
- Manage compensation tools, systems, and workflows to ensure accurate, efficient program delivery.
- Support compensation-related aspects of M&A and new company creation initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree and/or relevant certifications (e.g., CCP) a plus.
- 10+ years of progressive compensation experience, with specific expertise in broad-based compensation within high-growth or startup environments.
- Experience supporting global workforces and navigating complex, matrixed environments.
- High executive presence with ability to influence senior stakeholders and deliver recommendations with clarity and confidence.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, market pricing tools, and HRIS platforms.
- Background in biotech, tech, or high-growth venture-backed companies preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Exposure to executive and equity compensation programs, even if not the primary area of responsibility.
- Understanding of Total Rewards integration, including benefits, mobility, and people analytics.
