About the Role
Provides leadership, accountability, and responsibility for the entire scope of Rehabilitation Services for Mercy Medical Center. Operational responsibilities include budgeting, strategic planning, patient care management, integration, and achievement of organizational goals. Acts as a role model and change agent by initiating and accepting changes for improved patient care and cost reductions.
Responsibilities
- Develops an annual operational plan (including scope of service) for Rehab Services, integrated with Mercy’s strategic plan and related departments’ operational plans to efficiently provide services.
- Responsible for development, implementation, and periodic review of all policies and procedures that guide and support Rehab Services, including Joint Commission requirements, federal and state regulations, and regulatory standards.
- Develops and maintains a departmental staffing plan for Rehab Services, detailing appropriate employee classifications and qualifications consistent with the department’s operational plan, projected volumes, patient acuity, and other relevant indicators.
- Participates in human resource planning, providing recommendations for staffing, proactive recruitment, and long-term needs. Ensures compliance with the staffing plan.
- Responsible for ongoing assessment and improvement of the department’s performance based on Rehab quality plan monitors, customer satisfaction data, and employee satisfaction data.
- Supervises assigned management staff. Provides necessary education, orientation, and support to the management team. Demonstrates effective leadership and delegation skills.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, or exercise science required.
- Licensed in Iowa as a physical, occupational, or speech therapist.
- Prior management experience required; 3 years of management-level experience in rehabilitation preferred.
