About the role

The Director of Product Marketing will own the go-to-market strategy for 1Password's core product portfolio: Enterprise Password Manager, SaaS Manager, and Device Trust. This role reports to the VP of Solutions Marketing. This is a senior leadership role with two responsibilities that carry equal weight: running a strong PMM team, and owning the positioning, narrative, and GTM execution for 1Password's core products.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and Develop the Team - Directly manage a team of product marketers covering our core products. Set clear expectations, manage performance without avoidance, and build a team that does sharp work and gives honest feedback. Coach each PMM to do better work: clearer thinking, stronger writing, more effective in a room. Give the team what they need: clear priorities, clear ownership, and a direct line between their work and business outcomes.
  • Own Full-Stack Product Marketing for Core Products - Own messaging, positioning, and launch strategy for EPM, SaaS Manager, and Device Trust. Define the market narrative that reframes 1Password’s core products in the age of AI and automation. Tell the story simply — to analysts, customers, sellers, and SEs. Coach your team to do the same. Work with the broader PMM team to keep the platform story coherent.
  • Own Competitive Intelligence and Category Positioning - Own positioning and market leadership claims across EPM, SaaS Manager, and Device Trust. Partner with Solutions Marketing on competitive differentiation and solution narratives. Partner with Solutions Marketing to develop validated competitive differentiation and solution narratives. Give AEs and SEs a clear, confident answer to why 1Password wins. Identify where the market is moving, and stake 1Password’s claim early.
  • Enable the Field with Tools That Actually Get Used - Produce discovery decks, battlecards, objection-handling guides, and technical briefs that sellers and SEs reach for because they work. Take complex technical concepts and make them usable — content a seller can pick up, understand, and use in a customer conversation without a briefing. Surface win/loss signals from the field and turn them into repeatable GTM motions — not one-off documents.
  • Influence Product Strategy and Roadmap - Serve as the voice of the market to Product: bring customer evidence, analyst intelligence, competitive signals, and field feedback. Be a trusted advisor to product leadership on prioritization, packaging, and positioning decisions that affect pipeline and retention. Influence the roadmap by making the market case clearly and early.
  • Influence the Market - Show up at analyst briefings, customer advisory calls, and thought leadership moments where 1Password’s position in the market gets shaped. Write bylines, talk tracks, and keynote content. Build relationships with analysts, customers, and key influencers that keep 1Password informed and visible.

Working knowledge of developer toolchains — IDEs, GitHub Actions, CI/CD platforms — and the secrets management patterns that surround them. Understanding of how AI agents are reshaping identity and access security requirements. Able to market technically complex products to different audiences — IT leaders, security engineers, CISOs — without losing coherence across them. Track record in competitive markets where winning required unseating incumbents or reframing a category, not just occupying one.
