Director, Planning Team Lead

As a Director, Planning Team Lead, you will function as an elite player-coach, continuing to serve as an inspiring financial guide for your own members while leading and empowering a team of financial planners. In this role, you serve as an important link between firm-wide strategy and pod execution. As a proactive steward of both our people and our mission, you navigate the complexities of a growing business by synthesizing insights from the field into innovative, firm-aligned solutions. You model the 'One Facet' mindset—cultivating a culture of positive intent and agility that keeps your team inspired. Your mission is to drive high-performance results by helping your planners embrace the 'why' behind our evolving path, ensuring they feel supported and empowered to create life-changing member experiences.
What You'll Do
Leadership & Coaching (~75% of Time)
- Team Leadership: Lead and support a pod of financial planners, helping them navigate organizational updates, build a high-trust team environment, and align daily execution with broader company goals.
- Coaching & Skill Development: Conduct regular 1:1s and quality reviews to help planners refine member communication, transition from technical execution to empathetic relationship management, and address individual learning opportunities.
- Escalation & Practice Support: Act as the primary advisor for your pod on calendar management and member relationships, while handling complex member escalations and compliance issues.
- Process & Tech Execution: Ensure full team adoption of Facet's core planning methodology, tools, and proprietary technology platform.
- Strategic Collaboration: Partner with the broader Planning Leadership team to resolve business challenges and map out clear, long-term growth plans for every planner in your pod.
Direct Financial Planning (~25% of Time)
- Member Management: Maintain a portfolio of 50–100 members, delivering personalized financial planning that guides members through key trade-offs and decisions.
- Live Training Demos: Onboard 1–2 members each month as live teaching opportunities for your pod, demonstrating effective member engagement and tool usage.
- Personal Efficiency: Manage your own tasks, schedule, and member load efficiently to serve as a practical example for your team.
Success Metrics
- Member Impact: Achieve high member activation and unsolicited positive feedback from members for your own planning and across your pod.
- Quality Standards: Maintain high quality and consistency scores for your own planning and consistently high rubric scores across your pod.
- Team Performance: Drive pod NPS and ensure all planners meet or exceed numeric targets across every touchpoint (action on advice, quality, consistency, etc.).
Requirements
- Credentials: CFP® designation
- Experience: 7+ years of comprehensive financial planning experience.
- Proven Performance: Must have consistently maintained a high quality score in both personal planning and team development.
- Leadership Experience: 3+ years of experience coaching and developing high-performing planners.
- Technical Depth: Planning expertise in nuanced topics like equity compensation, tax, estate planning, and debt refinancing.
- Startup Mindset: Experience in a financial services startup and the ability to adapt to evolving service models.
- Communication: Ability to move people through resistance points and provide the "nudge" required for behavior change.

- $140,000 - $160,000 base salary + bonus.
