Director of Social Media
The Director of Social Media at Ava Labs leads the brand presence across multiple social channels, including Twitter/X, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. This role is part of the Marketing organization and reports to the SVP of Marketing.
Key Responsibilities
Own and drive strategy for all Ava Labs social channels.
Develop and execute platform-specific content calendars aligned to product launches, ecosystem milestones, and market moments.
Grow audience, engagement, and brand affinity across all platforms with a data-driven approach.
Proactively surface timely tweet recommendations and reactive commentary opportunities aligned with industry conversations.
Directly manage and mentor a team of 1, setting clear goals and career development priorities.
Serve as the senior social voice within the Marketing org, collaborating cross-functionally with PR/Communications, Content, Partner Marketing, Events, and BD teams.
Establish scalable processes for content production, approval, scheduling, and performance reporting.
Independently clip, edit, and publish short-form video content from long-form sources (podcasts, AMAs, interviews, events).
Perform basic photo editing and graphic production to enable fast publishing without always requiring designer support.
Source and adapt content from across the Avalanche ecosystem to amplify community voices and partner narratives.
Track, analyze, and report on channel performance metrics; translate insights into actionable strategy adjustments.
Monitor competitor and industry social activity to identify trends and positioning opportunities.
Required Qualifications
7+ years of social media experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role within crypto, Web3, or DeFi.
Demonstrable experience at a crypto-native or crypto-adjacent institutional platform (e.g., FalconX, Coinbase, Kraken, Grayscale, Gemini, or comparable).
Expert-level fluency across Twitter/X, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram — including algorithm dynamics and platform best practices.
Hands-on video editing skills: comfortable clipping long-form content and producing short-form social assets independently (CapCut, Adobe Premiere, or similar).
Working proficiency in Adobe Photoshop or equivalent for basic graphic production without relying on a design team.
Strong written communication skills with the ability to adapt tone, style, and format across audiences and platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience marketing a Layer 1 or Layer 2 blockchain protocol or DeFi application.
Familiarity with Avalanche’s ecosystem, architecture, and community.
Experience working in a fast-paced, globally distributed startup environment.
Existing network within the crypto media, influencer, and content creator ecosystem.
Background in both retail/consumer crypto audiences and institutional finance communications.
