About the role

The Naval Academy Athletic Association (NAAA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the varsity athletic programs of the United States Naval Academy. It promotes, influences, and finances these programs according to the Academy's policy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, maintain, and develop Navy Athletics' social media accounts (@NavyAthletics) across various platforms, including Twitter/X, Facebook, and Instagram.
  • Develop content strategy for the main account and team-specific accounts that reflect the values of the Naval Academy Athletic Association and highlight student-athletes.
  • Maintain and regularly update department policies for social media, and provide training on best practices for staff and student-athletes.
  • Use analytics to create plans that engage followers, including selecting content for the main @NavyAthletics account and team-specific accounts.
  • Create weekly, monthly, and yearly strategic content plans for the athletic department and content creators.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders within Navy Athletics, the Naval Academy, governing conferences, and broadcast networks to develop a social media calendar aligned with brand values and stakeholder obligations.
  • Work with varsity programs to create and implement strategic plans across digital and social platforms using graphics, photos, and video, integrating student-athletes, sports information directors, coaches, and other stakeholders.
  • Plan and coordinate sport-specific content creation for each sport and manage content creation.
  • Monitor social media platforms for trends and feedback, and engage with fans, student-athletes, coaches, and other stakeholders on social media.
  • Provide semi-regular reports and analysis on social media metrics to stakeholders, including engagement rates, follower growth, and reach for teams and units.
  • Ensure all social media content is on-brand, accurate, and adheres to the athletic department and Naval Academy's policies and guidelines.
  • Own the recruitment, management, and teaching of social media student interns.
  • Collaborate on the implementation and management of Teamworks Influencer.
  • Serve as a staff member of a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)-sanctioned athletics program, ensuring compliance with NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Understand and adhere to NCAA rules and regulations, immediately notifying the Compliance Office if a potential violation is observed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in digital media, marketing, communications, sports management, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience with social media/digital strategy management and content creation, preferably at a high-profile collegiate or professional sports organization.
  • Experience editing and working with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, etc.).
  • Proficiency in graphic design, video editing, and photography.
  • Strong understanding of social media analytics, trends, and best practices across multiple platforms.
  • Self-starter and proactive planner with the ability to strategize and execute campaigns.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of constituents as a team-oriented individual.

Additional Eligibility Requirements

  • Eligible to work in the United States of America without sponsorship.
  • Eligible to work on a military installation, including a willingness to submit to a background screen.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Pay Range

$50,000 - $60,000
