Director of Security

Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School in New York City is seeking a Director of Security to start in August 2026.

About the role

The Director of Security will oversee all security operations, including physical security, technology security, and emergency preparedness. They will ensure the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors on campus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all security operations, including physical security, technology security, and emergency preparedness.
• Ensure the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors on campus.
• Develop and implement security policies and procedures.
• Manage and train security personnel.
• Collaborate with other departments to enhance overall campus security.
• Respond to emergencies and conduct investigations as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., criminal justice, security studies).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in security management or a related field.
• Proven leadership skills and ability to manage a team.
• Knowledge of security protocols, emergency response plans, and risk assessment techniques.
• Experience with technology security systems and emergency communication systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

• Proven success in managing security operations and emergency situations.
• Experience working in educational institutions preferred.
• Knowledge of local and state security regulations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
