Position Summary

Supervisor: Gracehaven Program Director
Supervises: Resident Care Coordinator, YDCS Supervisors, Group Home Nurse, Youth Direct Care Specialists (YDCS), Onsite School Relationship

The Director of Residential Care provides strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for an adolescent residential care program. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, trauma-informed, evidence-based care within a therapeutic residential setting. The Director oversees daily operations, regulatory compliance, staffing, quality improvement, and interdisciplinary coordination to promote positive clinical outcomes and a nurturing, developmentally appropriate environment for youth.

Clinical Oversight & Service Integration

  • Partner with the Clinical Director and treatment teams to ensure high-quality, trauma-informed, culturally responsive care.
  • Monitor admissions, treatment planning processes, behavioral interventions, crisis management practices, and discharge planning.
  • Review and approve all residents Individualized Service Plans (ISPs).
  • Ensure appropriate use of evidence-based behavioral interventions and best practices are implemented.
  • Review critical incidents, restraints/seclusions (if applicable), and safety events to ensure compliance and continuous quality improvement.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams in decisions regarding youth admissions and discharge/removal from placement.
  • Ensure proactive staff participation in weekly resident care/clinical services staffings and monthly QRTP service team meetings.
  • Ensure consistent programmatic and enrichment activities across campus.
  • Support implementation of therapy groups in alignment with treatment needs.

Staff Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate residential supervisors and direct care staff.
  • Promote a positive, accountable, and mission-driven team culture.
  • Provide coaching and professional development to strengthen staff competencies in de-escalation, trauma-informed care, youth engagement, and other best practices.
  • Ensure ongoing training requirements are met in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Conduct annual job description reviews and establish performance goals each fiscal year.

Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing residential treatment for minors (including but not limited to DCY, CARF, HIPAA, QRTP, ODBH).
  • Serve as primary liaison during licensing and accreditation reviews.
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure documentation, client & personnel record keeping, critical incident reporting, data collection, and safety protocols are completed and meet regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Partner with the Quality Assurance Coordinator to ensure all contractual obligations for placements are fulfilled, including attending monthly provider meetings.
  • Maintain all legal, ethical, regulatory, and contractual standards for youth in care.

Fiscal & Administrative Management

  • Assist in annual budget development and manage program expenses within approved budget parameters.
  • Review financial reports monthly and address budget variances.
  • Review and submit expense reports monthly.
  • Monitor staffing patterns, overtime, and resource utilization.
  • Oversee census management and referral review processes for Residential Services.
  • Collaborate with the Development Team for donor tours and fundraising initiatives as needed.
  • Collaborate with Grant Manager on funding opportunities for residential programming and oversee programmatic implementation of all residential services specific grant awards.

Family & Community Engagement

  • Promote family engagement and involvement in treatment planning and discharge planning.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with community providers, first responders, local hospitals, the school, child welfare agencies, juvenile justice system entities, and referral sources.
  • Represent the residential program in community meetings and stakeholder collaborations.

Management Team Duties

  • Participate in Director Team meetings and annual organizational planning retreats.
  • Identify and recommend organizational improvements.
  • Support and advance the mission and vision of Gracehaven and COYFC.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, unity, and effectiveness.

Spiritual Responsibilities

  • Fully embrace and model the organization's statement of faith and code of conduct.
  • Participate in staff prayer meetings and contribute appropriately.
  • Pray consistently for youth in care.
  • Represent the organization's faith values respectfully to partners, families, and youth.
  • Ensure all faith-based activities remain voluntary and that no youth experiences pressure to participate.
